In an announcement that goes contrary to pretty much all of the AAA industry, Respawn Entertainment has recently stated that all of Titanfall 2's post-launch content will be free of charge. In other words, there is no need to purchase a season pass as all of the maps, modes, and long-term support will be added in without any hidden costs.
If you're up for reading the entirety of Respawn's post that covers all of the reasons why "Titanfall 2 is a different shooter", you can find it over at the official website. But to be perfectly honest, most of it is pure marketing fluff, so if you're just interested in the key part of this whole announcement - here it is:
All Maps, Modes, and More are Free After Launch
No Season Pass required: all maps & modes will be free in Titanfall 2 Multiplayer. This means no splitting up the community and it all starts with the legendary Angel City map, remastered from the original Titanfall. This means once you’ve purchased Titanfall 2, your investment includes a full single player campaign, the full multiplayer maps and modes, and long-term support with no hidden costs. You can pre-order the game to play 3 days early, but it will never cost you extra.
I'm not sure if this is the start of a new trend within EA, or just something Respawn cooked up on their own, but its certainly a welcome change in direction. This goes doubly so for Titanfall 2 as its predecessor ended up fragmenting the community so badly it more or less evaporated within half a year, so hopefully that chapter of history remains forever in the past.
And on a final note, its probably worth mentioning that Titanfall 2 just recently arrived to the PC and consoles, so if you were waiting for so long that you practically forgot about it - consider yourself reminded! Have fun!
