Apex Legends official artwork for Season 5's Loba

[Update #2]: The newest Season 5 preview is all about the new trickster Loba and her abilities.

[Update]: Respawn has now detailed how the story-focused Quests will work in Season 5!

Despite a slight delay, Apex Legends' Season 5 is set to arrive this May 12th. It'll bring with it a brand new Legend by the name of Loba, a rather massive rework of Kings Canyon, as well as the very first PvE-focused quests. There will also be a brand new battle pass, a variety of new cosmetics to toy around with, and more likely than not, a fancy new weapon.

If you're curious what all of this might look like in gameplay terms, especially when it comes to the Kings Canyon changes and the sinking of Skull Town, you can find that out by taking a peek at the newest gameplay trailer. Have a gander:

So instead of simply splitting Skull Town in two like they've done with the city in World's Edge, it appears that Respawn has decided to straight up annihilate both Skull Town and Thunderdome. On one hand I'm a little bit sad about it as Skull Town is the place for non-stop action, but on the other hand, it'll be good to see that same action spread out a little bit more.

Kings Canyon is a big map after all, and right now most of the fighting happens around the left side. Hopefully, with the new changes, the right side won't be quite so desolate. Who knows, maybe even poor ol' Swamps will finally become a highly desirable location!

RIP Skull Town, you'll be missed!

Map changes aside, I'm also really looking forward to the new quest system. Despite it being a Battle Royale game with only the flimsiest of excuses to keep players fighting, Apex Legends has quite a few interesting storylines happening in the background. So if this new quest system can shed more light on them, as well as deepen the connections between various Legends, I have a feeling it will be a pretty darn good addition.

You can learn a little bit more about Apex Legends' Season 5, as well as follow any future updates, over at the official website. Until then, make sure to drop a few more times into Skull Town while it still exists!
