After a lengthy hiatus due to the somewhat mediocre Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, the series has now made its return with Assassin's Creed: Origins. Besides being set in a lovely rendition of Ancient Egypt, Origins brings with it a variety of gameplay and quality of life improvements, the most interesting of which is the shift towards a more tactical combat system. Instead of beating down your enemies in a series of 1-on-1 duels, the new system rewards stealth, positioning, and the use of gadgets above all else. So while its still a fairly simple system, it does at least punish you if you end up getting caught without any kind of backup plan.
The recently posted launch trailer won't exactly give you a good look at the gameplay, but it will at least show you the kind of scenery you'll be to explore throughout Origins. Have a look, its not a very long video:
I haven't had the time to play it myself, but from everything I've read so far it would appear that Assassin's Creed: Origins is following the same path as Wolfenstein 2. In other words, the gameplay itself is highly enjoyable, but the PC version is unfortunately riddled with some annoying bugs and crashes. As such I would recommend waiting at least a week or two before diving in, just to make sure you're getting the best possible experience.
If you want to take the risk, however, you can grab yourself a copy by heading over to either Steam or the official website. And finally, let me leave you with the most recent cinematic trailer. It basically has nothing to do with the game itself, but it sure is pretty to look at! Enjoy!
