If you're one of those people that likes to joke about Blizzard chasing trends, just with a five year delay, today's announcement should give you plenty of new material to work with! While the details are currently few and far between, Blizzard has just revealed that they are working on a brand new survival game for PC and consoles.

The most important bit of information, however, is that this survival game will not be set in the Starcraft, Diablo or even Warcraft universe. Instead, you can expect to see something entirely original, which is a rare delicacy with Blizzard these days.

As for what exactly the game will be about, nobody currently knows, but the brief teaser images show a crossroads between our modern world and some kind of magical one, as well as a very Monster Hunter inspired character adorned with all sorts of bits and pieces from various monsters. The art style is as strong as always, so I have no doubts that this new survival game will look quite stunning.

Unfortunately, there is one bit of bad news. Given that this entire announcement seems to be here purely to attract prospective new developers to the project, it's highly likely that the game is still in the very early stages of development. In other words, we're probably going to have to wait for quite a while to learn more.
