Warcraft 3: Reforged footman artwork

[Update]: Warcraft 3: Reforged has now finally been released, and it's unfortunately a bit of a mixed bag.

For those of you that were planning to actually follow through with your New Year's resolution instead of simply lazing around, I'm afraid I bring a bit of bad news. Blizzard has just announced that Warcraft 3: Reforged, a remastered version of one of the best RTS games around, will be releasing world-wide on January 28, 2020!

Warcraft 3: Reforged will bring with it remastered versions of both the Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne campaigns, improved visuals and voice acting, greatly rebalanced online play, a variety of upgrades to the matchmaking and social features, and perhaps most importantly of all, a massively enhanced World Editor tool!

While the original gameplay trailer unfortunately doesn't highlight many of these additions, it will still give you a pretty good idea of just how much of an improvement Warcraft 3: Reforged truly is. Have a gander:

If you don't feel like waiting until January, however, it's also worth mentioning that pre-ordering either of the two editions will give you access to the multiplayer beta. This alone should keep you occupied for quite a while, so if you're already planning to grab Warcraft 3: Reforged, getting in a month early might be something to consider.

Have fun, and you can learn more about Warcraft 3: Reforged over at the official website.
