Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 official artwork and logo for the popular FPS

If you're eager to dive into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 before its October 28th launch, or if you're simply curious if it's even your type of shooter, you'll be happy to hear that the Open Beta is now live on PC and consoles. Unfortunately, there is a little bit of a catch.

As of right now the Modern Warfare 2 beta is still in Early Access, which means that only those that have pre-ordered the game are able to get in. However, this will not be the case for very long as the beta will become accessible to absolutely everyone on September 24th.

This means that if you're planning to play for free you'll only have two days to explore Modern Warfare 2. It's not exactly a lot of time, but it should still be more than enough to help you figure out whether Modern Warfare 2 is going to be worth your time and money. As such, if you're on the fence about the game, I'd highly recommend diving into the beta and treating it as an extended demo.

You can check out the Open Beta, as well as potentially read a whole bunch of player reviews, over at Steam. Have fun!
