After a lengthy hiatus, and some truly miserable games preceding it, the Alone in the Dark series is now finally coming back. So in order to set a new standard, as well as to ensure the new series stays true to its roots, the freshly announced Alone in the Dark will be a reimagining of the original horror classic.
While Alone in the Dark won't be retelling the same story, the premise should be instantly familiar to veterans of the series. You'll start off by exploring the supposedly haunted Derceto Manor, and from there things will slowly but surely spiral into madness as nightmarish creatures and terrible secrets start popping up. A fairly simple concept, but you really can't go wrong with a decrepit manor as far as horror game settings go.
As for what sort of atmosphere and visual style Alone in the Dark is going for, that you can find out through the announcement trailer below:
If all of this looks like it's right up your alley, I'm afraid you're in for a bit of a wait as no release date has been revealed just yet. There's not even an estimate. The only thing I can tell you is that Alone in the Dark will be launching onto PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
Once we get some actual details, ideally alongside a gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about Alone in the Dark over at Steam. Enjoy!
