[Update]: Overwatch is getting its very own novel starring Orisa and Efi - The Hero of Numbani.
You don't need much of a story to keep an FPS game interesting, the mechanics will do that on their own. However, when you add a colorful cast of characters and an interesting world to the mix, the whole thing can become far greater than the sum of its parts.
Nowhere is this more apparent than with Overwatch, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Blizzard and Dark Horse Comics have announced a partnership to re-publish the currently available comics, but also create a brand new Overwatch graphic novel and even an art book.
If you're interested in the 7 comics Blizzard has released so far, you can find all of them over at the Overwatch website, just scroll down a bit. They're all fairly short and mostly deal with character motivations and backstories, so if you're looking to find out more about your favorites, this would be a good place to start.
As for the upcoming graphic novel, it will focus on the original Overwatch strike team, though further details on the storyline or the creative talent behind it are currently unknown. What is known, however, is that the graphic novel will be 100-pages long and set to arrive in April 2017.
The final piece of this arrangement, the Overwatch art book featuring behind-the-scenes illustrations and concept art, will be released in the Summer of 2017, though once again there is no further information.
Thankfully, we won't have to wait for very long in order to find out more about these projects as Blizzard has announced that they will be sharing more details during their "Behind the scenes of Overwatch's newest hero" panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. Here's the full cower art for the graphic novel to tide you over until then:
