Hearthstone's newest expansion Rastakhan's Rumble arrived a couple of weeks ago, and even though it brought in a variety of interesting new cards and mechanics, it barely had any impact on the constructed meta. As it turns out, some of the most powerful decks have become so refined that they simply didn't have room, or even a need for brand new cards to supplement their strategy.
In order to tone done some of these decks and make the whole constructed experience just a bit more enjoyable, Blizzard has now issued a variety of nerfs to some of the most popular cards. Here's what changed:
Wild Growth – Will cost 3 mana. (Up from 2)
Nourish – Will cost 6 mana. (Up from 5)
Level Up! – Will cost 6 mana. (Up from 5)
Saronite Chain Gang – Now reads: Taunt. Battlecry: Summon another Saronite Chain Gang.
Leeching Poison – Will cost 1 mana. (Down from 2). Now reads: Give your weapon Lifesteal this turn
If you're wondering why Blizzard targeted these cards specifically, as well as what their end goal is, you should head on over to the official website to learn more. Long story short, their intention is to reduce the amount of "must include" cards in order to prevent overly predictable matches and to make each class just a bit more diverse. Certainly a noble goal, but whether or not these changes will manage to accomplish all of that, only time will tell.
Speaking of which, if you have any of the above-mentioned cards, make sure to dust them for their full value while the post-nerf bonus is still in effect. If you find yourself needing them later, you can always craft them at basically no cost, so there really is no reason to hang on to them. Just don't spend all of your dust immediately and you should be in a pretty good spot.
Have fun with the fresh new meta!
