While it ended up being slightly overshadowed by Cuphead, Hollow Knight is without a single doubt one of the best games from 2017. The gameplay is solid, the artwork gorgeous, the music haunting, the world vast and interesting to explore, and perhaps most impressively, all of the updates have been both significant and free!

With that in mind, I am very glad to say the developers have decided to continue the tradition as they have just announced a massive free update - Gods and Glory. There will be a brand new game mode to mess around with, a new quest and NPC character to explore, a bunch of new boss fights that revolve around said quest, new charms to customize your playstyle with, and naturally, even more awesome music to repeatedly die to!

I would love to tell you more, but I'm afraid the details are currently in short supply. We don't even know what the new game mode is going to be all about, but apparently it's a genre classic that the community has been requesting for a very long time now. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say the new game mode is going to be some sort of a Boss Rush mode. It's a fairly popular request, it's common in similar games, and perhaps most significantly of all, it's not going to take an insane amount of time for the developers to actually implement. It could also be a New Game+ mode, but I don't feel that would work very well as the map and gameplay were designed with the player's limitations in mind.

Whatever the case may be, it's certainly going to be a good reason to hop back into Hollow Knight and give the whole thing another whirl. As for the release date, the only thing we know so far is that it will be coming in early 2018.
