[Update]: The Island Bound expansion has now docked onto PC and consoles.
A fair few months have gone by since the previous Prison Architect expansion, so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise to hear that Paradox has now announced a brand new one - Island Bound. Much like the name would suggest, Island Bound will expand Prison Architect's gameplay in a nautical direction by giving you access to moats, rivers and lakes, as well as two seemingly similar premade maps to mess around with: Alcatraz Prison and Alcatraz Island.
You'll also have access to a variety of new transports and buildings, security and construction opportunities, and naturally, a bunch of customization options. And if things ever get out of hand, Island Bound is also bringing in the ability to call special ops teams, air paramedics and firefighters to help out. Quite handy in a pinch, but likely to be absurdly expensive, so do try not to set your prison alight every single day!
Island Bound will be launching on June 11th, and while there has been no official price tag given just yet, chances are it'll set you back €6 like the previous expansion. Similarly, there doesn't appear to be a gameplay preview available, but you can get a little bit of a sneak peek at Island Bound through the newest teaser. Have a look:
As a final note, it's also worth mentioning that Paradox has now also released the Cleared For Transfer free DLC. Expect to see the ability to designate security sectors and issue actions per sector, the option to transfer prisoners between said sectors, and most importantly of all, a chance to offer special privileges to prisoners in certain sectors in order to encourage better behavior. A relatively small update, but the changes really do seem to be quite significant.
Have fun, and if you would like to learn more about Prison Architect, you should head on over to Steam.
