Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming medieval RPG that aims to be as immersive and faithful to the era as possible. What this means in gameplay terms is that you won't be throwing fireballs or beating down scores of bandits with your own bare hands. Instead, if you want to survive anyway, you'll have to get some backup before tackling groups of enemies, use trickery and stealth to take them down one by one, and then ideally join the fight only when the odds are stacked in your favor since you can't just block sword swings with your face.
If you're wondering what all of this might look like in-game, wonder no more as the developers have recently posted a lengthy preview video showing off what it takes to clear out a 'simple' bandit camp. The developer commentary strikes a nice balance between being informative and entertaining, so I'd say the video is well worth a watch. Have a look:
I was hoping some of the clunkiness during combat would slowly disappear as we inch closer towards release, but if the last few videos are any indicator that doesn't appear to be the case, especially not in battles that involve dozens of NPCs. It's not too big of a deal as Kingdom Come: Deliverance has enough going for it to make those flaws worth overlooking, but it's still something I'm hoping the developers will sort out by launch.
Whatever the case may be, I guess we'll find out soon enough as Kingdom Come: Deliverance is set to arrive this February 13th for PC and consoles. You can learn a little bit more, or just check out some of the other preview videos, by heading over to either the official website or Steam.
