If you're like me and somehow managed to avoid every single closed beta key for Overwatch, never fear as salvation will soon be here in the shape of an Open Beta that starts on May 5th.
In order to celebrate both the Open Beta, and the full release on May 24th, Blizzard has released a brand new cinematic teaser for Overwatch starring everyone's favorite simian scientist Winston. Check it out:
The Open Beta will be available from May 5-9 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 completely free of charge, and most importantly, without any locked content!
In other words, you'll be able to play as all 21 heroes, experience the progression system, play across all 12 maps, and even mess around with the Weekly Brawl. Do bear in mind, however, that none of your progress from the Open Beta will transfer into the release version of Overwatch, so don't get too attached to any cosmetics you might come across.
Finally, if you've pre-ordered Overwatch prior to April 29th you'll be able to play for an extra two days, starting on May 3rd. Best of all, you'll have a bonus 'early access' key sent to your email address so you can invite a friend to join you in all of pre-release shooty action. If you belong in this category you'll be happy to know that the pre-load should already be available for you, so if you haven't started downloading Overwatch yet, now would be the time to do so before the servers crumble under pressure.
The Open Beta will conclude for all regions and all players on Monday, May 9th at 10am PDT (5pm UTC).
