Given Paragon's constantly dwindling playerbase and the meteoric rise of Fortnite, Epic eventually decided to shut down their ambitious MOBA on April 26, 2018. In the process they did something a bit unexpected - they released all of Paragon's assets onto the Unreal Marketplace for absolutely no cost!
This is where the upcoming Overprime comes into play, as by using Paragon's elements as a base the Netmarble team is aiming to create a new and improved third-person MOBA. Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you one of the gameplay trailers. It's a little bit outdated at this point, but it should give you a pretty good idea of just what the team is trying to do with Overprime. Have a look:
If all of this looks like something you'd love to dive into yourself, you'll be happy to hear that there is a closed beta test coming later this week. The whole thing will kick off on January 21st and will be run through Steam, so if you're interested, make sure to sign up for beta access.
Once we get a proper release date, as well as a newer gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about the characters by hopping to the Overprime website. Have fun with the beta!
