[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's has now also launched a new Pachimari themed game mode that will be running alongside the One-Punch Man crossover.
[Update]: Overwatch 2 has launched a One-Punch Man crossover event alongside a small balance update.
In order to give Season 3 its own unique identity despite not adding a brand new hero, Blizzard has scheduled a wide assortment of events for players to mess around with. Some of these are fairly classic events that bring with them a time-limited game mode and a couple of cosmetics, while others are a bit more... unique!
How unique, you might ask? Well, how about an official dating simulator starring Mercy, Genji and Hanzo! Yes, that is an actual thing that Blizzard has just released for free, and not only does it exist, it's quite charming as well!
Instead of taking the topic too seriously and risking things turning creepy, the freshly launched Loverwatch is more of a tongue-in-cheek affair filled with meta commentary, jokes and even tiny bits of new lore! So even if dating simulators aren't your thing, I'd highly recommend giving Loverwatch a try since it's paced well and doesn't overstay its welcome.
Best of all, if you complete all three paths (Genji, Mercy and the secret one), you'll also be granted a couple of cosmetic items! This is currently a bit buggy so I can't tell you what exactly the items are, but what I can say for certain is that the new Hanzo Play of the Game animation is hilarious!
If you prefer a bit more action, however, the PvP focused Ultimate Valentine’s event will be going live tomorrow with a Hanzo themed limited time game mode. Both it and the Loverwatch dating sim will be around until February 28th, so don't dilly-dally for too long if you want some of the fancy prizes.
Have fun, and I'll make sure to let you know once the next big update arrives.
