Ever since Overwatch first launched, players have been clamoring for more lore and animated shorts. Yet despite these requests, the storylines in Overwatch are moving at a disappointingly glacial pace, while the characters themselves never really seem to grow or change. A real shame given the potential at hand.
With that in mind, I'm quite glad to say that Blizzard appears to have teamed up with Netflix and another unannounced studio in order to produce a Diablo and Overwatch animated series respectively! All of this comes from the LinkedIn profile of Nick van Dyk, co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios, in which Gamespot has recently spotted direct references to both shows.
Naturally, there is basically no official information to go off right now. If the rumors are true, however, then the Diablo series is currently in pre-production. As for the Overwatch series, all we know right now is that it has been developed and sold to an unannounced partner. In other words, as good as it is to hear that the two series are being made, we might still have to wait for quite a while before either one gets fully realized.
Once more information becomes available I'll make sure to let you know as I'm quite curious myself. Until then, I'll leave you with the beautifully animated trailer for Overwatch 2. Enjoy!
