[Update]: Overwatch's Hero 32 will be the mysterious Omnic Echo from McCree and Ashe's cinematic short.

Instead of going through the usual process of slowly teasing the new event over the course of a week, Blizzard has now simply unleashed the Overwatch Archives update without even a single word. And honestly, I'm actually quite glad they did it since the slow trickle of information just deflates any sort of excitement the event might bring.

Speaking of which, this year's Archives event is looking pretty darn good, even if most of the content is recycled from last year. Not only are the new cosmetics some of the best they've released in quite a while, but Blizzard has also managed to breathe new life into the old PvE missions by creating special challenges. For example, one of the challenges is Glass Cannon that drastically reduces the amount of health your hero has, but in return grants you a significant increase in damage. Needless to say, it's a pretty fun new ruleset to explore!

You can get a bit of an idea of what these new cosmetics look like, as well as what the other challenges might entail, through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, if only to see Pharah and Ana get yet another amazing new skin:

If you're purely in it for the PvP action, however, you'll also be glad to hear that the Archives update has brought in many of the recent PTR changes. Baptiste, Soldier 76, Sombra, Orisa and Sigma have received some nice buffs, while the ever-present D.Va and Mei have been smacked by the nerf-bat. You can check out all of the changes, as well as the accompanying bug fixes, over at the official forums.

As for the Archives event itself, you should head on over to the official website to check out all of the new cosmetics, challenges, and potential rewards. Have fun, and do make sure to give the new PvE challenges a try - they really are a good bit of fun!

Up for some more?
