Quake Champions comic book artwork

Quake Champions is Bethesda and id Software's upcoming return to oldschool FPS sensibilities. In others words, instead of slow and realistic gameplay the focus will be firmly placed on fast-paced combat, a wide variety of overpowered weapons, advanced movement mechanics such as rocketjumping, and pretty much everything else you might remember from Quake 3: Arena. The one big difference is that Quake Champions's primary game mode will feature a variety of different champions, each one with their own unique benefits and abilities. If this is something that bothers you, worry not as there will be a purist game mode specifically designed for competition.

Now that you know Quake Champions is all about running really fast and carving all of your opponents into very tiny pieces, I have a bit of a strange announcement. Apparently Quake Champions will be getting an official comic book series, and yes, this does include having a proper story!

The details are still a bit shaky, but Titan Comics has revealed that the comic book series will delve into the bloody backgrounds of the champions Ranger, Visor, Nyx, and more. Naturally, the focus will still be on the fragfest between the various champions, but the comic series will at least give us some background information on Quake Champions' more interesting characters.

As for the release date, the Quake Champions comic book series will be arriving this August, though no specific date or number of editions has been announced. And since I can offer you very little else in terms of useful information, allow me to end all of this with one of the cover arts:
