[Update]: Monster Hunter Stories 2 has now arrived, and so far it's getting a pretty positive reception!
If you're in the mood for a little bit of a different Monster Hunter experience, you might want to check out the upcoming RPG spin-off Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. Instead of hunting down powerful monsters in order to chop them into pieces and use those pieces to make increasingly more absurd weaponry, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will have you take the more friendly approach of raising monsters, teaming up with them in battle, and eventually even riding them around as you explore the world.
You can get a bit of an idea of how all of this will look like in action, as well as what sort of style Monster Hunter Stories 2 is going for, through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander:
If this sort of RPG-focused approach looks like it's right up your alley, you'll be happy to hear you won't have to wait for all that long in order to dive in. In other words, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will be landing onto PC and Switch this July 9, 2021!
It's also worth mentioning that, much like the mainline Monster Hunter series, Capcom is already planning a series of free updates. The first of these will add Palamute as a new monster on July 15th, after which we'll get a co-op quest to tackle Kulve Taroth on August 5th, alongside two new monsters. You can check out the full list of planned additions over at the post-launch roadmap.
Once Monster Hunter Stories 2 arrives onto PC I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can learn a little bit more about it by hopping over to the Monster Hunter website.
