Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden minimalistic JRPG with card battles artwork

[Update]: The Beasts of Burden has now arrived, and so far the reception has been quite positive.

Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden, much like its two predecessors The Forsaken Maiden and The Isle Dragon Roars, is a traditional swords & sorcery JRPG where literally everything is done through the use of cards. You'll explore a large world map made entirely out of cards, make difficult choices and have conversations by using cards representing your options, and naturally, fight enemies by flinging your cards directly at their face.

The whole idea behind the Voice of Cards series is to create a sort of Dungeons & Dragons experience where your only window into the world and its characters comes from the 'dungeon master' running the whole adventure and the couple of cards you can see before you. What this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the trailer below. Have a gander:

While Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden does not have a free demo available, the original The Isle Dragon Roars does! So if you're curious about the concept and you don't mind the whole thing being a bite-sized adventure, I'd highly recommend giving the demo a bash. It's a fun little experience.

As for the release date, Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden will be launching onto PC and Switch on September 13th, while the PlayStation version will be arriving at some point in the near future. Once the PC version goes live, I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, you can read a little bit more about Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden, as well as keep an eye on any developer updates, over at Steam. Enjoy!
