[Update]: Valve has announced the best-selling and most played Steam games of 2020.

If you're looking to treat yourself for the holidays, or simply pile on another bunch of games onto the backlog, you might want to check out the freshly launched Steam Winter Sale. Much like before, it's absolutely filled to the brim with discounts on all sorts of games, so chances are you'll easily find a few games to occupy your time.

For those of you looking for a bit of advice, allow me to also share a couple of games I've enjoyed messing around with over the past few years. Here they are, in no particular order:

• Monster Hunter: World - 34% off 
• Slay the Spire - 50% off 
• Dark Souls 3 - 75% off 
• Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition - 60% off 
• XCOM 2 - 75% off 

These are all brilliant games in their own right, so if you're even remotely curious about any of them, I'd highly recommend doing a little bit more research and then ideally grabbing them while they're still on sale. And if you don't like the sound of any of them, it's well worth reiterating that this is only the tip of the iceberg, so simply dive into Steam and see what you can find. There's plenty of awesome and creative games out there, especially once you start looking through some of the mid-sized indie ones.
