[Update]: The System Shock Remake has now arrived, and it's looking quite good so far! The console versions are also on the way, though those will be coming at a later date.
After achieving solid progress on the System Shock remaster, Nightdive Studios announced a while back that they are putting the project on ice as it simply wasn't shaping up to be very good. Thankfully, the whole story didn't end there, and soon enough Nightdive Studios returned to the System Shock remaster with renewed focus, this time around using the overwhelmingly popular demo as a guideline.
Quite a few months have passed since then, and if you're wondering what exactly the developers have managed to achieve with the System Shock remaster, allow me to share with you the recently posted and rather lengthy gameplay preview. Have a gander:
While the whole thing appears rough around the edges, especially when it comes to how weapons feel when impacting the enemy, I have to admit I'm quite pleased with what Nightdive Studios have done. The atmosphere, the way enemies seem to be in a bit of a daze when not directly attacking you, the strange ship architecture - it all feels like the original System Shock!
How exactly all of this will look in the final version, only time will tell, but it does appear that the System Shock remaster is well worth keeping an eye on. Once more information becomes available I'll make sure to let you know, but until then you can read a little bit more about it over at Steam.
