[Update #2]: The day has finally come - Temtem has now been unleashed in full!
[Update]: After two years in Early Access, Temtem will be launching onto PC and consoles in September 2022.
Pokemon inspired MMO Temtem released into Steam Early Access last month to some rather positive reviews. In order to keep this momentum going, as well as let the community know what they're working on, the developers have now released the roadmap, as well as announced their plans for Temtem's future.
Ranked matchmaking, spectator mode and in-game chat will be coming as a part of the upcoming spring update, while the summer patch will add player housing and Kisiwa as a new island with ~25 new Temtem. Further down the line, the fall 2020 update will once again be adding a new island with 25 new Temtem, as well as a quest diary, in-game tournaments and achievements.
Given how many features directly tie into competitive play, you'll be glad to hear that the developers are planning to introduce auto-scaling to the ranked queue in order to keep a level playing field for everyone. You'll still need to set your preferred TV spread and obtain necessary gear through the main story or side quests, but you won't have to spend wast amounts of time trying to perfect your stats since they'll all be scaled up to 50.
A little bit of a controversial decision given how the entire game is all about raising your Temtem, but I'm still quite happy to see it. After all, competitive play should be primarily about how well you use your own strategies and how you respond to your opponent, rather than about how much raw time you're willing to invest into grinding and breeding for perfect stats.
You can read a bit more about these changes, as well as the reasoning behind them, over at the latest developer blog post. Enjoy, and I'll leave you with the full roadmap which also includes 2021 content.
