Its been known for a couple of years now that an Assassin's Creed movie is on the way, and we even had numerous pictures leaked from the set, but I do believe this is the first time we've ever gotten to see any actual footage.
If you were worried that this is going to follow the video game movie tradition and be absolute garbage I'm happy to say that from what little was shown in the trailer they've managed to nail both the atmosphere and the style of the series. Have a look for yourself:
Outside of the completely ill-fitting music, which seems to be the next big trend for Hollywood after everyone got sick of hearing *BWAAAAM* *BWAAAM* in every trailer, the footage shown so far really does look good.
The one point of contention I can see is that the Animus technology has been changed a fair bit when compared to its in-game counterpart, but it actually makes more sense this way and it serves as a good excuse for the protagonist to eventually go rogue and still retain his super-assassin skills even in real life. Either way, consider me intrigued.
The movie, adequately titled as Assassin's Creed, is set to launch on December 21.
