The latest weekly Civilization 6 video has arrived, and this time around the spotlight is on the Egyptian civilization. In a bit of a surprising turn of events, the Egyptian leader has been confirmed as Cleopatra, rather than Ramses II or Hatshepsut as many have expected given their prior appearance in the series.
If you're interested in all of the details on what Egypt is good at and what sort of playstyle they're orientated towards, I would suggest you direct your eyes to the video below:
To put it simply, the Egyptians are a civilization that gains immense benefits when building near rivers. If the hex you're trying to improve borders a river, you will not only construct districts in it faster, but also wonders as well! To further cement this advantage, Egypt's unique tile improvement is the Sphinx which grants faith and culture, but also a few other bonuses when built near wonders.
Its not all about wonders, however, as Egypt features some heavy benefits for all players that like to engage in trading. Each and every single trade route you establish, both within and without your empire, will grant you a certain amount of extra gold, so in order to be as prosperous as possible you are going to want to establish good trading relations with all of your neighbors. This shouldn't be too much of an issue given that each Civ that trades with Egypt will be granted food as a little bonus on top of the usual trading haul.
Finally, the unique unit for Egypt is the Mariano Chariot Archer which gains bonus movement when it starts on open terrain. Its quick, its deadly, and it excels at hit and run tactics - the perfect tool for defending your trading empire.
Civilization 6 will be arriving on October 21, and if you're interested in learning more I'd suggest you head over to the official website.
