The Epic Games Store launched a little while ago, and in order to attract a bunch of new customers Epic vowed to give away a free game every two weeks throughout the entirety of 2019. The current game on offer is Axiom Verge, so if you're interested in a bit of Metroidvania action, you should head on over to the Epic Games Store before this part of the promotion ends on February 21st.
I haven't played Axiom Verge myself, but I have heard a great deal of good things about it, so if you're a fan of the original Metroid or the genre as a whole, it might just be worth checking out. After all, it is entirely free! The one thing you should know before diving in is that Axiom Verge is a rather tricky game, so do make sure to approach it with a bit of patience, lest you find yourself dying over and over again.
