Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden official artwork showing the characters

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is an upcoming video game adaptation of the 'Mutant' pen & paper RPG that has been around since the 1980s. The premise, as you might expect, is fairly simple - Humanity has managed to nuke itself into oblivion, thus leaving the planet populated by Mutants (deformed humans and animals alike), killer-robots, and plenty of ruins to loot for resources.

When it comes to gameplay, Mutant Year Zero is a mixture of turn-based combat and real-time exploration, along with some stealth thrown in for good measure. In other words, you'll be able to freely roam across the world and explore at your leisure, scavenge resources and talk to some rather colorful characters, and if you ever end up in battle you will find yourself in a turn-based combat system that is very reminiscent of XCOM. While the recently posted trailer won't give you much more in terms of details, it will at least give you an idea of what most of this looks like in-game. Have a gander:

Mutant Year Zero will be coming to PC and consoles at some point in 2018, though no exact release date has been given just yet. To learn more about it, as well as follow any further developer updates, you should head on over to the official website.

And as a final note, I'll send you off with one of the earlier and extremely lengthy gameplay previews. The video is a little bit slow, but if you're eager to find out what Mutant Year Zero is really all about, it will give you all of the answers you seek. Enjoy!

Up for some more?
