[Update]: Total War: Troy's Amazons DLC has now landed, and it's about as fun as you'd expect.
While this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given how many times Creative Assembly has said the DLC will be coming in September, Total War: Troy's Amazons DLC has now been pinned for a September 24th release date. More importantly, the Amazons will be entirely free to grab for two weeks after launch!
In order to secure yourself a copy you'll need to create a Total War Access account and link it to your Epic Games Store account. While you're doing that, you might want to also grab a bunch of free content for the other Total War games, especially Total War: Warhammer 2 given that there's quite a few free DLCs squirreled away in there.
As for the Amazons themselves, they will be led by Penthesilea and Hippolyta, each of which will have drastically different campaign mechanics. Speaking of which, the Amazons will also have a bit of a unique unit recruitment system given that they will only be able to recruit five extremely basic units. However, those units will be able to advance through the ranks and gain new abilities and effects as you progress through the campaign, which should give the Amazons a bit of a different feel than the other factions.
There is unfortunately one bit of bad news I have to deliver as well - mod support will not be launching this month as previously announced. According to a brief comment by Creative Assembly, "mod support has been delayed by at least a month," so I wouldn't exactly recommend waiting on it before giving the Amazons a try.
Either way, you can grab the Amazons DLC for free over at the Epic Games Store once it launches on September 24th. For now, however, I'll leave you with the brief animated trailer showcasing the two leaders. Enjoy!
