While it may have stumbled shortly after launch, the future of Vermintide 2 is currently looking quite bright. The recent Update 1.3 rebalanced pretty much all aspects of gameplay, from weapon balance to AI behavior, while the freshly launched Back to Ubersreik DLC brought in a whole bunch of new content, including a secret new game mode!

If you're looking for even more content, however, you'll be glad to hear that Fatshark has now announced a massive update to the modding tools. As expected, the details are few and far between, but according to the latest developer stream the new tools will allow players to create levels, retexture both models and environments, as well as create entirely new characters or enemies!

This is quite possibly the best thing Fatshark could've announced besides dedicated servers, so consider me extremely pleased. After all, games like Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 have managed to remain highly popular because of their vibrant modding community and dozens of excellent user-made maps, so replicating that in Vermintide 2 would certainly be a good idea! Doubly so if they take the initiative and help modders in optimizing their maps for an official release, kind of like what Valve did with Team Fortress 2.

Once Fatshark reveals some actual details I'll make sure to let you know, but until then you might want to go and check out the latest round of sanctioned mods. Have fun!
