Vermintide 2 studio's Warhammer 40k: Darktide artwork

[Update #2]: My review for Darktide is now live and, long story short, it's as rough and fascinating as the world it takes place in!

[Update]: I have a few bits of good news to share! First of all, Fatshark has released a fancy new cinematic trailer for Darktide showing off the world and the fate of the fan-favorite Guardsmen squad. Furthermore, there's going to be a pre-launch beta starting on November 17th, and last but not least, Vermintide veterans will be getting a small cosmetic DLC as a gift.

If you don't feel like waiting until November 30th to give the Warhammer 40,000 flavored co-op shooter Darktide a try, you'll be happy to hear that the Closed Beta will be launching tomorrow! It'll run from October 14 - 16 and will give you access to all of the characters, a variety of weapons, as well as four maps to make a complete mess out of.

What you can expect to see in terms of gameplay, as well as why the Fatshark team is even running the beta, that you can find out through the trailer below. Have a peek:

In order to access the Closed Beta, all you have to do is navigate over to Steam and click on that shiny green "Request Access" button below the Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Playtest tab. After that it's all up to the whims of the Chaos Gods whether you'll get a beta key or not, though I can't imagine Fatshark will be organizing a small gathering given that they're trying to stress-test their servers.

There will be no NDA for this beta test, so even if you don't get in you should have more than enough material available to figure out what exactly Darktide is about. Personally, I'm planning to do a lengthy preview as I'm quite curious to see just how exactly Darktide will push the Vermintide formula forward.

[Update]: The beta has now come and gone, and unfortunately so has my GPU. As such, I'm afraid the preview will have to wait until the next round of testing.

Once Fatshark announces another juicy bit of information, or Vermintide 2 finally arrives in full, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, have fun with the beta!
