For those of you that don't know, Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is a four player co-op adventure in the vein of Left 4 Dead, though instead of zombies and mutated nasties you have to deal with an even bigger menace - the Skaven. While it does have a couple of annoying flaws, Vermintide is a truly excellent co-op game and one I've spent a good chunk of hours playing, so if you're a fan of L4D, give it a look.

The reason I'm telling you this now is because Vermintide just recently got updated with a brand new piece of free DLC - Quests & Contracts. As you would expect from the name alone, the update introduces a whole bunch of new ways to gather loot and temporary buffs, all with the intent of make your rat-slaying job even more fruitful. Here's a brief developer video explaining how the whole system works:

If you can't be bothered watching the video, however, here's the short version: You can pick up Quests and Contracts from the newly added Bounty Board in the Red Moon Inn, after which you will be able to complete additional mission objectives in order to earn extra loot. So what are these rewards? Well, Quests have a guaranteed chance to award you with an epic item, though you will need to complete a certain number of Key Contracts in order to unlock said item. But don't worry, the Key Contracts also have their own set of rewards to make the whole process a relatively painless one, and more importantly, they are able to bestow you with temporary boons. In other words, save the hardest missions for last as the extra buffs might just give you the edge you need!

All of this might sound like a small and relatively meaningless patch, especially if you've never played Vermintide, but loot plays an incredibly important role, so to have an easier way of accessing it is a simply amazing quality of life change. Best of all, the entire update is free, so thumbs up for Fatshark on their continued support of Vermintide!

Up for some more?
