Back in September Fatshark announced the long-awaited sequel to the Left 4 Dead inspired rat-slaying simulator Vermintide, but unfortunately they didn't release even a tiny bit of information to back the announcement up. As such, I am very glad to say that the developers have now not only released a bunch of new info, but also a decently lengthy gameplay trailer as well!
Instead of just fighting the Skaven, we will now also be clashing swords and axes with the forces of Chaos. The trailer mostly features low-tier Chaos Marauders, but given the presence of Chaos Spawn and Trolls I think its safe to assume we're going to be slaying some bigger baddies as well, hopefully even a couple of Demons! But enough teasers for now, here's the very first gameplay video:
Besides a whole bunch of new baddies to beat up, we will also be getting 15 new hero careers, new environments, talent trees, and perhaps most importantly, a greatly improved loot system! The hero careers haven't all been revealed just yet, but it appears that they are being modeled after some of the most famous Warhammer units. So the Dwarf Ranger will be able to specialize into an Ironbreaker or Slayer, the Elven Waywatcher into a Shade, and so forth. As for the loot system, you'll be probably be delighted to hear that it will now only reward you items that your class can actually use!
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will be coming to PC and consoles in the first quarter of 2018, though no specific release date has been given just yet. If you would like to learn more, or just follow its development moving forward, you should head over to either Steam or the official website. Personally, I can't wait to kick some Chaos ass!
