[Update #2]: World of Warcraft Classic is giving players a fancy new dragon mount for simply playing Death Knights.
[Update]: It looks like World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be launching on September 26th, 2022.
While its announcement got slightly overshadowed by the much more bombastic Dragonflight expansion, I'm happy to report that Wrath of the Lich King Classic is on the way! Best of all, we won't have to wait all that long in order to dive into one of the finest WoW expansions as Wrath of the Lich King Classic will be launching at some point in 2022.
Much like its predecessor, Wrath of the Lich King Classic will bring with it all of the content from the original game, along with a couple of changes to make the whole experience just a bit better. So not only will you have time to level your Death Knights to 70 before the expansion goes live, but you'll also be able to create a Death Knight without having to own a level 55 character on the same server!
Wrath of the Lich King Classic will also expand the barber shop with a variety of additional customization options, including some that were originally available only as a paid service. On the completely opposite side of things and due to popular request, Arena rating will be switching from being team-based to personal. This should make it much more convenient to play with different groups of friends, as well as much easier to group up with strangers for a couple of quick games every now and then.
Most importantly, in an effort to maintain the tight-knit Classic community, the highly controversial Patch 3.3.5 Dungeon Finder will not be added at all. That said, the Wrath of the Lich King Classic team is looking towards other ways of improving group play and the whole dungeoneering experience, so expect to see a whole bunch of quality-of-life tweaks.
Once more information becomes available, ideally alongside a release date, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about Wrath of the Lich King Classic over at the Blizzard website.
Enjoy, and I'll leave you with the announcement trailer:
