Artwork and logo for Motion Twin's newest game Windblown

Given the popularity and quality of Dead Cells I wouldn't have blamed Motion Twin from simply making Dead Cells 2 and going for a near guaranteed success. However, that doesn't seem to be where their passion lies. So instead of doing a retread, they've decided to tackle the roguelite genre from a different direction with the freshly launched Windblown.

We're still talking about a fast-paced and challenging roguelite, though this time around the action is in 3D which means a lot more room to maneuver, a lot trickier attacks to deal with, as well as more potential to outplay your enemies. And the biggest new addition? There's now online co-op so you can relentlessly mock your friends every time they get smashed by a boss!

What all of this madness looks like, as well as what sort of story and atmoshpere Windblown is going for, that you can check out through the trailers below. Have a gander, starting with the animated story trailer and ending with the gameplay one:

Before you get too excited, it's important to note that Windblown has only just entered Steam Early Access and is thus unfinished. The developers expect it'll take them at least one year to get everything fully finished and polished up, though don't be surprised if it takes longer. So if you do decide to jump in right now, make sure you're doing so to help the developers out rather than to grind all of the currently available content for so long that you burn yourself out before the game is even done.

Whatever your plans may be, I'll make sure to let you know once Windblown is near completion. Until then, you can read more about the state of the Early Access version over at Steam.
