After getting a taste for the supernatural with Desperados 3, it seems like Mimimi Games have decided to go all in on the craziness with their next project. A good thing too, because the freshly announced Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew looks like a really fun mixture of pirates, magic, stealth and strategy!
Much like the previous games, Shadow Gambit will task you with infiltrating heavily guarded fortresses, sneaking behind enemy lines in order to place traps or create diversions, and picking off unsuspecting guards in order to give you more wiggle room. Once all of your characters are in position, you can then use your mystical skills and supernaturally enhanced abilities to surgically take out your opponents before they even realize something is amiss.
Speaking of characters, there will be eight of them to mess around with, each of which will come with a fully fleshed out personality and a unique skillset. For example, Gaëlle's magical cannon can launch friends or foes, Mr. Mercury can open up portals to help the less subtle crewmembers get into position, while Afia and her fancy sword can break the laws of physics to instantly take out enemies.
In between all of the action you'll also be able to explore the Caribbean as a captain of your very own ghost ship! This sort of thing will involve visiting new islands in search of treasure and information, chatting with your cursed crewmembers and helping them out with their individual missions, and if we're lucky, a few sea shanties as well!
What all of this looks like in action, that you can check out through the freshly posted and developer-guided overview. Have a gander:
No exact release date has been announced just yet, though you can expect to see Shadow Gambit launch onto PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox and PlayStation at some point in 2023. Once we get an actual release date, I'll make sure to let you know.
Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about Shadow Gambit over at the official website. Enjoy!
