Frostpunk is an upcoming city building game set in a frozen wasteland where humanity has been driven to the brink of extinction. In order to survive you will need to create vast and interconnected cities with the help of steam-powered technology, make difficult moral choices with no clear answers and serious consequences, and pretty much do everything you can in order to keep your citizens alive, no matter the cost!
If you're wondering what all of this looks like in-game, and what the moral choices are even all about, you'll find what you seek in the recently posted gameplay trailer down below. Its not very long, but it does showcase Frostpunk's rather massive potential. Have a look:
As a concept I must admit this is quite intriguing. Building your own city is always an enjoyable and time-devouring thing to do, but the addition of ambiguous moral choices really makes the whole process a lot more compelling. I mean, what if the most optimal way towards a brighter future involves essentially sacrificing the present? Would that be a decision you'd willingly make, or would you desperately try to search for an alternative which may or may not exist? I have no idea how complex Frostpunk is going to end up being, but as a concept it genuinely is pretty damn awesome!
There is currently no release date set for Frostpunk, but given the state of the gameplay trailer above I'd probably guess late 2017 or early 2018. Either way, if you would like to learn more I would recommend heading over to the official website or Steam. And finally, here's a couple of chilly images:
