Necromunda: Hired Gun official artwork without logo

While there are a ton of Warhammer 40k games around these days, the amount of good first-person shooters among them is either zero or one, depending on how generous you want to be to Space Hulk: Deathwing. As such, I am incredibly happy to say that we can bump that number up as the newly launched Necromunda: Hired Gun is not only oozing with Warhammer 40k atmosphere, but is also quite a competent Doom-like shooter as well!

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you one of the gameplay overview trailers. It's a few months old by this point, but it should give you a pretty good idea of just what Necromunda: Hired Gun is going for. Have a gander:

Much like Space Hulk: Deathwing and E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Necromunda: Hired Gun comes to us from Streum On Studio. With that in mind, it should come as little surprise to hear that Necromunda: Hired Gun is far too ambitious for its means and suffers from a bit of jankiness as a result of it. So while I can quite comfortably compare it to the modern Doom in terms of gameplay, it's important to mention that it simply cannot match the same level of polish and detail as id's masterpiece.

That said, even when you consider all of its flaws Necromunda: Hired Gun is still the best Warhammer 40k shooter around (by a large margin too) and a pretty good time in general! So if you're a fan of the Warhammer 40k universe and you're willing to forgive some Streum On Studio branded jank, I'd say Necromunda: Hired Gun well worth looking into.

You can do so, as well as check out some of the user reviews, over at Steam. Have fun!
