[Update #2]: Risk of Rain 2 has now left Early Access alongside the massive new Update 1.0!
[Update]: Risk of Rain 2's Artifacts update has now arrived, and unsurprisingly, it's a pretty good one.
While there were some delays here and there, Risk of Rain 2 developers have so far stuck to their roadmap with admirable precision. As such, I'm sure it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that the big Artifacts 2.0 update will be coming this March 31st, only a little bit later than what the team predicted quite a few months ago.
The details are still few and far between, but I can tell you the update is going to bring with it a brand new stage to explore, multiple new bosses, as well as a variety of items and equipment to experiment with. Most importantly of all, the update will bring with it improvements to the Artifact system, as well as even more Artifacts to help spice things up.
For those of you that might be unfamiliar with them, Artifacts essentially allow you to customize your own difficulty. Going with the original Risk of Rain as inspiration, this can be something as simple as causing only one enemy type to spawn per stage, to something as ridiculously fun as making you deal 500% more damage, but only have 10% health. Personally, I hope the upcoming Risk of Rain 2 update adds more of the latter as those are always the most interesting ones to mess around with!
Once the Artifacts 2.0 update goes live I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can learn more about Risk of Rain 2, as well as follow any further developer announcements, over at Steam.
