Back in 2010 when indie game were still incredibly niche, only the most unique and interesting ones ever got any sort of recognition. Despite this massive hurdle, the highly challenging platformer VVVVVV released to an overwhelmingly positive reception and has remained a staple of the genre ever since.

So if you've never given VVVVVV a try, or if you're in the mood for a bit of a nostalgia trip, you might be interested to hear that there is a brand new update brewing. The first one after a sever year hiatus!

It brings with it performance improvements to make VVVVVV run better on modern computers, support for 60fps, as well as some nifty new map editor features. Perhaps most importantly, thanks to community reports over the past decade, a huge amount of bugs and long-standing issues will be getting fixed as well!

The update should be going live soon, but if you would like to help things along and get a little sneak peek at some of the new stuff, you can already check it out on the Steam beta branch. Simply go into VVVVVV's properties on Steam, go into the betas tab, and then select "2.3-testing". Once you're done the download should start automatically and you'll be ready to go in mere moments.

To learn more about VVVVVV, as well as keep an eye on the status of the update itself, you should head on over to Steam. Enjoy!
