After going through a rather successful Early Access campaign with the original Everspace, Rockfish Games are now aiming to do the same with the newly launched sequel. Much like before, Everspace 2 is a spaceship shooter that's all about exploring the galaxy, collecting copious amounts of loot, and greeting all sorts of alien species and pirates with an assortment of high-powered weaponry.
As for what all of this looks like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the freshly posted trailer. Have a gander:
In terms of content, the current Early Access version features the first ~12 hours of the story campaign and a variety of side missions that take place in the first two star systems. From what I can tell pretty much all of the main mechanics are already present and accounted for, though obviously, some of them will need a bit of extra polish to truly shine.
According to the developers, that process will take between 12 to 18 months, though obviously nothing is set in stone just yet. So if you do decide to dive into Everspace 2 this early in its Early Access stay, I'd recommend doing so to help the developers out with some much needed feedback rather than to burn through all of the current content and then get stuck waiting for two years for it to fully finish.
But whatever your plans may be, you can learn more about Everspace 2 over at Steam. Enjoy!
