The original Guacamelee! is a highly enjoyable Mexican-themed brawler with more than a fair share of Metroidvania elements. Its all about wondering through a giant world, collecting new powers which you can use in combat and for exploration, dashing and jumping across any obstacles you might encounter, stringing together massive combos in order to exploit an enemy's weakness, and other fun stuff like that.
With all of that in mind, I hope you can now understand just how happy I am to say that Guacamelee! 2 has just been announced at Paris Games Week 2017! You can get a brief look at what Guacamelee! 2 has to offer via the recently posted teaser trailer. Have a gander:
The details are still in fairly short supply, but you can expect to see the return of multi-dimensional platforming, combat moves that also help with exploration, a variety of bird-themed powers, and naturally, a whole bunch of new locations to demolish. Much like its predecessor, Guacamelee! 2 will also support drop-in/drop-out co-op, though I'm afraid it appears to be for local play only. Oh, and the developers have also said they are bringing in "99% less memes" this time around, so take from that what you will!
Guacamelee! 2 will be coming in Spring or Summer of 2018, while the launch platforms have not yet been confirmed. That said, the original Guacamelee! is available on just about everything, so I expect the same will apply to Guacamelee! 2 as well. You can follow its development moving forward by heading over to the official website, but just keep in mind that its currently barren when it comes to useful information. And finally, let me send you off with a couple of colorful images:
