While it may seem like a simple card game at first, Slay the Spire is a brilliant combination of turn-based strategy and roguelike progression systems. I've probably 'beaten' it about fifty times at this point, but I still find myself coming back to it because of how many different playstyles you can utilize, and perhaps most importantly, because of how often the developers have patched it with new features and balance changes.
With all of that in mind, I am extremely happy to say that Slay the Spire will finally be coming out of Early Access on January 23rd, 2019! There will be a price increase shortly after the upcoming Winter Sale, however, so you might want to grab it before that happens.
Personally, and I'm sure this will come as a massive surprise, I would highly recommend you give Slay the Spire a chance if you're into card or strategy games in general. It has more than enough content to keep you entertained for dozens upon dozens of hours, and if you're willing to experiment, there's a lot more playtime you can accrue just by messing around with the various mods the players have already created. While it's unfortunate that this is even remarkable these days, it's also well worth mentioning that Slay the Spire has no in-game purchases of any kind! Your success is entirely in your hands.
But enough rambling from me. You can learn more about Slay the Spire, as well as grab yourself a copy when the upcoming Winter Sale arrives, by visiting Steam.
And just for good measure, here's one of the recent Switch trailers to give you a better idea of what to expect. The controls and UI are obviously going to be different on PC, but the gameplay style is the same. Enjoy!
