[Update #2]: Vampire Survivors is soon getting a sizable, Among Us inspired DLC - Emergency Meeting.
[Update]: Update 1.6 has now arrived with local co-op and a brand new engine, as well as a couple of little teasers for upcoming content!
Despite it being nearly two years since Vampire Survivors first landed onto Steam, the quality of its updates doesn't appear to be dropping. If anything, each new one is even more impressive than the last!
This goes doubly so for the upcoming August 17th update as not only will it be adding a local co-op mode, but it'll also fully transition Vampire Survivors to a brand new engine. Best of all, the co-op update and all of its contents will be entirely free for everyone to mess around with.
The co-op mode will support four players in total, with each player being visible on the same screen at the same time and sharing the same experience bar. There won't be any special co-op levels or achievements, though you'll be able to play through the entirety of Vampire Survivors, including the DLC, alongside friends. Similarly, there won't be any sort of Versus mode, though that doesn't mean you won't be able to annoy your companions by picking up items like Gatti Amari!
It's also worth mentioning that despite having a fairly simple control scheme, Vampire Survivors won't support multiple people playing on the same keyboard. Instead, every player will need their own input device of some kind. Online play, while technically not supported, is going to be completely possible through the use of services like Steam's Remote Play Together.
What all of this looks like in action, however, that you can check out through the teaser trailer below. Have a peek:
Once the co-op update goes live I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about it over at the official FAQ. Enjoy!
