Apex Legends artwork showing off Pathfinder's origins

[Update #2]: Apex Legends' massive Season 7 update is bringing in a new map, legend, vehicle and even guilds.

[Update]: Apex Legends' 2020 Halloween event is launching with a spruced up 'Shadow Royale' mode!

Quite a long time has gone by since the original announcement, but I'm happy to say that Apex Legends has now finally added cross-platform multiplayer with the new Aftermarket update. So regardless of which platform you prefer to play on (PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC), you can now make friends and group up with people without any restrictions.

Naturally, given the advantages a mouse & keyboard have over the classic gamepad, there are some limitations when it comes to random matchmaking. Console players will have access to the combined playerbase of both consoles, while PC players will continue facing off against other each other. If a console player teams up with a PC player, however, they will both be matched with other PC players in order to keep things fair.

Besides the long-awaited addition of cross-play, the Aftermarket update has also added two rather interesting tweaks. First of all, the cooldown of Pathfinder's grapple will now be based on the distance traveled. So if you go for short hops, or if you mess up and face-plant into the ground, you'll only have to wait for 10 seconds before trying again. On the other hand, if you expertly fly through the air and appear two kilometers away from where you started, you'll have to endure the usual 35 second cooldown.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as Respawn has finally started attacking Wraith's largest advantage - her hitbox. So instead of bending down to do a Naruto-style run while sprinting, Wraith will now stay mostly upright, and thus a lot easier to hit while ducking and weaving. While this might look like a relatively small change on paper, its repercussions could be absolutely massive, to the point where Wraith might even get her abilities buffed back up to compensate!

Whatever the case may be, you can learn more about this update and the addition of cross-play, by checking out the patch notes over at Reddit. Have fun with all of the new stuff!
