[Update #2]: Darktide will be getting RPG-like talent trees and an Xbox version on October 4th.

[Update]: Patch #12 has now arrived, and I'm happy to say it's quite a good one!

While the actual moment-to-moment gameplay in Darktide is some of the best I've ever seen, the systems surrounding it are... messy, to put it politely. Playing multiple characters is needlessly grindy since nothing is shared between them, trying to create weapons you like involves layers upon layers upon layers of randomness, and worst of all, you can't even choose the exact flavor of missions you want to run - it's all random!

Thankfully, after months of this nonsense, it seems that Fatshark is finally looking to address many of the long-standing community complaints. The details are still few and far between as this is an 'announcement of an announcement' type of deal, but you can look forward to some changes dealing with account based currencies, perk refinement, crafting locks and options on the mission board.

What I'd like to see is shared crafting resources and dockets (general currency) between all characters as the current system is simply too tedious for people that enjoy multiple playstyles. As for the crafting system, I'd like to see them make it less reliant on randomness. Perhaps we could utilize the otherwise useless diamantine to remove the crafting locks as that would solve two problems at once. For the mission selection, I'd like to see Fatshark either copy Deep Rock Galactic's system, or at the very least make it so there's a few more options that rotate quickly so there's always a couple of interesting game modes to choose from.

Once we get some actual information I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, have fun speculating on what exactly the fabled next week will bring!

Up for some more?
