Amnesia: The Bunker official artwork and logo showing off the monster

[Update]: Amnesia: The Bunker has now been unleashed, and so far it's looking quite good! Best of all, there's even a free demo!

In an announcement that comes as quite a surprise, Frictional Games have now revealed that their highly atmospheric, first-person horror game Amnesia: The Bunker has been delayed. It's not the delay itself that comes as a shock, mind you, but rather the fact that it's only been pushed back a single week!

"We're pushing the release date of Amnesia: The Bunker back by one week, and it will now be coming out on May 23rd instead," reads the brief update. "This will give us a little more time to polish the game and make sure everything is perfect before launch. We appreciate your patience and hope you are looking forward to playing Amnesia: The Bunker. It will be worth the wait!"

Given how short the delay is, I can only imagine this means good things for Amnesia: The Bunker. After all, if the game was a mess or if there were hundreds of bugs to squash, surely Frictional Games would've pushed it back further to give themselves enough time to sort everything out. When it comes to game development, a week really isn't much.

Either way, I certainly hope Amnesia: The Bunker ends up being well polished as the concept of exploring a semi-randomized world where you're constantly hunted by a monster that learns from and reacts to all of your moves is certainly an interesting one. Alien: Isolation tried something similar back in 2014 and it ended up being amazing, so with a bit of luck Amnesia: The Bunker will be able to live up to its legacy.

Once Amnesia: The Bunker is ready to launch I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about it and its gameplay style over at Steam. Enjoy, and I'll leave you with one of the trailers to help set the atmosphere:
