[Update #2]: Overwatch 2's Lunar New Year 2023 event has now landed alongside Capture the Flag and very little else.
[Update]: Overwatch 2's Battle for Olympus update has arrived with a fun novelty game mode and some truly awful challenges.
As a part of the Season 2 update Overwatch 2 added Ramattra as a brand new tank hero, a new escort map by the name of Shambali Monastery, as well as a whole host of balance changes. While the new content is certainly fun to mess around with, the update was unfortunately a bit of a mess due to some misguided balance tweaks that pushed the power levels of certain heroes to the extreme, while not really doing much to make underplayed heroes like Junker Queen actually useful in competitive play.
In order to sort all of this out, Blizzard has just released a hotfix containing a bunch of new changes! Doomfist, Sojourn, Tracer and Kiriko have received some well deserved nerfs, while Ramattra, Orisa and Ana have all received a couple of small but highly impactful buffs. Without further ado, here's what has been changed:
Doomfist
• Rocket Punch
- Cooldown increased from 3 to 4 seconds
• Power Block
- Minimum damage mitigated required to empower Rocket Punch increased from 80 to 100 damage
• ‘The Best Defense…’ passive
- Temporary health gained per target hit with abilities decreased from 40 to 35 health
Orisa
• Terra Surge
- Now pierces through barriers upon impact
• Augmented Fusion Drive
- Damage falloff range increased from 15 to 25 meters
Ramattra
• Nemesis Form
- Movement speed increased by 20%
- Armor bonus increased from 150 to 225• Void Barrier
- Cooldown reduced from 15 to 13 seconds
Sojourn
• Railgun
- Primary fire spread increased by 28%
• Disruptor Shot
- No longer slows enemy movement
• Power Slide
- Cooldown increased from 6 to 7 seconds
Tracer
• Pulse Pistol
- Damage reduced from 6 to 5.5
Ana
• Biotic Rifle
- Damage and Healing increased from 70 to 75
• Biotic Grenade
- Effect duration increased from 3 to 4 seconds
Kiriko
• Protection Suzu
- Invulnerability duration reduced from 1 to 0.85 seconds
If you're wondering why there is not a single Roadhog nerf to be found, that would be because Blizzard ran into a major technical issue that forced them to delay it. So Roadhog will definitely be getting some changes, though we'll likely have to wait a couple of weeks in order for them to materialize.
Blizzard is also working on buffing Brigitte and reworking her ultimate, as well as fixing up Season 2's mythic skin holder Junker Queen. What exactly these tweaks and reworks will bring to the table, as well as when they will even happen, that I'm afraid I don't know.
Once that changes, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, have fun with the currently ongoing Winter Wonderland event!
