[Update #2]: Blizzard will be adding cross-platform progression with Overwatch 2.
[Update]: Overwatch's final event, and likely final update as well, has now arrived alongside some fancy reskins.
With Overwatch 2 now fast approaching, Blizzard has decided to gift Overwatch one last update before they truly commit everything to the long-anticipated sequel. Unfortunately, instead of a triumphant update that would bridge the gap between the two games and give Overwatch the send-off it truly deserves, the upcoming Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 is mostly just more of the same.
So much like the previous two remix updates, Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 will give you another chance at grabbing an assortment of old cosmetics from various events, as well as a couple of snazzy new recolors. The exact list of recolors has not been announced just yet, but you can get a little bit of a sneak peek at what is to come by heading over to the Overwatch Twitter.
Similarly, there is no trailer showcasing the new cosmetics in action, but you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect by checking out Vol. 2's offerings. Have a gander:
The Anniversary Remix: Vol. 3 event will go live on August 9th across all platforms, and will last until August 30th. Personally, I would've liked to see it run all the way until Overwatch 2, just to avoid having the base game enter a big ol' slump before Overwatch 2 lands on October 4, 2022.
My little musings aside, I'll make sure to let you know once the event goes live. Until then, you can keep an eye on any developer updates or teasers over at the Overwatch website.
