[Update #2]: The Hunter & The Beast, as well as its accompanying free update, have now arrived in force!
[Update]: Gor-Rok, the free Lizardmen Legendary Lord, is looking to be immensely powerful!
Total War: Warhammer 2 has brought with it a variety of improvements, both in terms of gameplay and the strategic depth of the various factions. While this is definitely a positive thing, it has unfortunately resulted in the original Total War: Warhammer races feeling a bit bland in comparison.
In order to address this little problem, as well as to spice up the campaign map, Creative Assembly has now announced a brand new DLC - The Hunter & The Beast. The expansion will bring with it two highly thematic Legendary Lords (Markus Wulfhart for the Empire and Nakai the Wanderer for the Lizardmen), a variety of new units to toy around with, new regiments of renown, new and interesting campaign mechanics, and naturally, a whole bunch of changes to both factions.
While it won't show you some of the more minute changes, the most recent teaser trailer will give you a pretty good idea of what the Legendary Lords and new units will be like. Have a gander:
On the other hand, if you're really looking for all of the details, you should head on over to Steam to learn more. As always, Creative Assembly has described pretty much every facet of the DLC, so you should get a clear picture of just what The Hunter & The Beast is really all about.
Besides the DLC itself, the update will also bring with it a variety of free improvements to the Empire faction, as well as a free Legendary Lord for the Lizardmen - Gor-Rok. When it comes to the Empire, you can expect to see a rework of the Mortal Empires campaign map, the ability to play an Empire co-op campaign, a variety of new fortifications to help you hold off the forces of disorder, and perhaps most importantly, a brand new political system based around the Elector Counts!
There's simply too much to cover in brief, so if you're eager to find out more, you should take a trip to the official FAQ. It's not as detailed as the Steam page when it comes to the free stuff, but it sure does paint a lovely future for the Empire!
The massive free update, as well as The Hunter & The Beast DLC, will be arriving on September 11th. Consider me excited to finally be able to yell "summon the Elector Counts" and have it actually mean something!
