[Update]: Following numerous complaints, Total War: Warhammer 3 is changing its DLC pricing and size.
To say that Creative Assembly messed up with Total War: Warhammer 3's Shadows of Change DLC would be quite the understatement. The price tag was significantly higher than any similar DLC, the amount and quality of content on offer was rather low, and to make matters even worse, the accompanying free update was completely anemic. As such, the DLC quickly found itself a 'mostly negative' rating on Steam, and rightly so.
Usually that would be the end of the story, but thankfully Creative Assembly has decided to eat their humble pie and make amends. In order to do so, they have now unleashed Patch 4.2 which, among other things, brings with it a whole bunch of new additions to the maligned DLC - all free of charge!
These new additions include everything from new Lords, Heroes and units, and even a brand new Lore of Magic for Kislev - the Lore of the Hag! While some of these units are iterations of stuff we've already seen, there's also quite a few that come with unique visuals and new playstyle options for their respective factions. It's pretty good stuff!
Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the update trailer. That one should give you a solid idea of what each of the factions is getting and how each of the new additions will fit into their overall strategy. Have a gander:
The only downside to all of this is that the price for Shadows of Change will not be decreasing and will remain 25€. Personally, that's way too much and so I plan to continue ignoring Shadows of Change and any similar DLC in the future. After all, why spend 25€ on a couple of new units when you can get an awesome new game like Helldivers 2 for only slightly more?
Whatever your thoughts on the matter may be, you can read more about Patch 4.2, as well as keep track of any new announcements, over at the Total War website. Enjoy, and I'll leave you with a couple of my favorites from the update:
